I have shared photos of the Strand Rotunda before. The Last Time it was in the process of getting a new paint job and I promised a follow up with it’s new look. It really does have that green look about it in real life.
Most week-ends there are a few wedding ceremonies at The Rotunda. There was a celebrant and couple going through their wedding plans on the day I took these photos. It is a beautiful place to wed. Casual yet Historic and the surrounding gardens can be used for photographs too. If you had children there is a small playground nearby to keep them entertained as well – perfect.
The Rotunda was built in 1913 and although it is an evocative reminder of another era, I like that it is still relevant today. It adds that interesting nostalgic touch to the event, and at one time guests could have adjourned across the road to the Queens Hotel for drinks to fill the time between ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
We got married in our own home on the back verandah and it rained so hard during the ceremony that guests could not hear the Marriage Celebrant over the noise of the rain on the tin roof. The back garden was saturated and guests had to take their shoes off or get them covered in mud. Rain on the wedding day is meant to be good luck and I cannot disagree with that.
Did you get married outdoors, or have any freakish weather on the day?
