There we stood on the Terrasse Dufferin in QUEBEC CITY. At our back was the beautiful Chateau Frontenac and spread beneath us, the Old Lower Town and the timeless Saint Lawrence.
Rainwater had formed mini pools on the individual timbers of the boardwalk in April 2010, when these photos were taken.
In Mid-June, the sun is shining, locals and tourists stroll, ice-creams in hand (from the little terrasse shop), a Sax plays hauntingly while funny street performers entertain. In winter people tobogan down and during Winter Carnival when the crowds descent on the City, the Terrasse becomes a popular meeting place.
It is a Fantastic Friday. Be sure to enjoy it!
Budget Travel Tips.
Entrance is Free = Budget Love
The boardwalk starts behind Chateau Frontenac and continues (via many steps) to the Citadel and the Plains of Abraham. If this bothers, you can reverse the walk, finishing on Terrasse Dufferin.
What a beautiful spot. 🙂 It must be absolutely magical in winter! 🙂
I particularly liked these photos so I didn’t put them in my “Walled City” post. I thought they deserved their own “Fantastic Friday”spot 🙂
Those colourful buildings look quite unreal. I expect to see toy soldiers out the front!
You have nailed it – exactly what it looks like 🙂
That Boardwalk is incredible!! Love the way the planks of wood draw you into the scenery…I so could stroll down there with an icecream, hand in hand with my boys 🙂
