After a recent photographic post on a SUNSET DRIVE HOME I have noticed that Townsville skies have been stunning. Lately I have started to focus on the clouds themselves as they have been beautiful in their own right.
After a restorative long week-end spent camping at our favourite WATER SKI SPOT with friends and family, we headed down to The Strand to walk off a few calories.
As we were departing the Strand, past the historic girls boarding school of St. Patrick’s College, or as it is known locally – St. Pat’s, these clouds caught my attention.

Turning left from the Strand into Oxley Street I was in awe of the extravaganza. As B.H. was intent on driving I was left to snap shots through the car windscreen.

Continuing past St. James Cathedral, over Melton Hill and into the C.B.D. this next shot was taken in Walker Street in front of the Townsville City Council building, with Castle Hill sneaking into the background of the shot, above the building.

Continuing down Walker Street toward the city reservoir with it’s bright tropical artwork the clouds were rapidly spreading and following us.

By the time we were nearly home the sky was covered in a patchwork of clouds as far as we could see. Have you noticed the fascinating clouds where you live?
Leave a link to your “sky” post in the comments and share the magic.
Happy Tuesday from Townsville.
Wow, they almost look like celestial fireworks! Stunning photos. I’m going to look out and up today 🙂
I have noticed them during the day sometimes, but they seem more frequent in the afternoons 🙂
I remember everyone in Jordan becoming very excited when there were clouds in the sky. Now I appreciated them too! Lovely photos Jan
Were they excited because they thought it may rain, or just because they were pretty and rare?
Hi Jan,
I am a goofball when it comes to clouds, too! Thanks for showcasing that day’s lovely works of art.

They have been so amazing lately, they forced me to do this post 🙂
