Whenever somebody invites me to lunch I always hope they will choose a destination along Townsville’s Strand. So when two of my sis-in-laws invited me to the Longboard I was excited. The Longboard shares the Gregory Street headland with one of my favourite spots The C Bar, but I had been wanting to visit the Longboard for a long time.
We walk along the Strand every afternoon and The Longboard went through a stage of putting their daily special on a blackboard on Strand Walkway – which was Oh so tempting!
My Sis-in-laws both ordered wraps and liked them. They were large and hit the spot. I was not very hungry so I chose Chilli Garlic Prawns from the To Share Menu. The taste of the prawns was true to their description – no complaints there! I had read the menu as it being served with bread and I imagined naughtily dipping my bread into the garlic chilli oil from the hot pot. I must not have read the description properly because the bread came already grilled with oil on it – bummer.
The Thursday we were there was overcast and very breezy but still there were a lot of diners. In the late afternoon on the week-ends crowds of people stand drinking on the deck, no doubt taking advantage of the live music drifting across the road from the Seaview Hotel.
Here are some photos I took on the day.
