New Zealand Superboat Profloors wiped the floor with the rest of the competitors over the course of the two day event in Townsville on the week-end. A friend and I watched the race on Saturday from the C Bar on The Strand waterfront – the boats and the attendant helicopters providing a high octane accompaniment to the Tyrells Dry White, Mussels in Chilli Tomato Sauce and Crispy Duck Salad. I did manage to squeeze off a few shots in amongst the chatter.
Magnetic Island Shimmering in the Bay
As if the weather gods knew that it was Superboat Saturday, they turned on Superb Conditions.
Spectator boats moored – anticipating the action.
Superboats Ahoy!
I held my breath at manoeuvres the helicopters performed following the race.
There is the spray, but where is the boat?
Possibly the Winner…

That looks like so much fun, mind you I am not sure that I would want to be in the Superboats with the speeds they get up to 🙂
I would not like to be in them either Lisa, but the sound and sight was lovely, over a glass of wine and lunch 🙂
