How to get from Nafplio to Mycenae Ancient Ruins
Take a rented car from Nafplio to Mycenae, to explore the ruins of Ancient Mycenae. It is very easy and the site itself is a pleasure to visit.

Mycenae is Wheelchair Friendly
Uphill areas are accessed by gently sloping tracks and the whole place including toilets is wheelchair friendly.
Parking at Mycenae Ancient Ruins
I won’t lie, parking was hectic when we visited in September. I had a moment of panic when our tiny Hyundai became hemmed in on all sides by buses. A lovely bus driver came to my rescue after I blew the horn in desperation. Things do have a habit of sorting themselves out in Greece.
Other ways of getting to Mycenae
Other ways of getting from Nafplio to Mycenae are public bus, Taxi, Tours. To avoid the parking issue a tour would be a good option as they return to Nafplio. It may not be as easy to find a taxi when required.
Don’t forget the Mycenae On-Site Museum
There is a wonderful museum on site which we thoroughly enjoyed. Entry is included in the ticket price.
Where to stay near Mycenae
We recommend using Nafplio as a base. It is also easy to visit Epidavros Ancient Ruins and beaches from Nafplio.

Mycenae was World Heritage listed in 1999. Together with the Tiryns site, Mycenae was vital in the Mycenaean culture that dominated the Eastern Mediterranean 15th to 12th Century B.C.
