Australia has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and Coolum on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland is a real beauty.
Queensland’s Sunshine Coast stretches 55 km from Caloundra near the top of Bribie Island in the South to iconic Noosa in the north. Coolum is the name of a beachside town, beach and Mount located a little more than half way toward the Noosa (northern) end. It is our favourite holiday destination on the Sunshine Coast and we are currently staying at the Coolum Beach Holiday Park which luxuriates on 10 acres of prime beachfront land.
A coffee van sets up in the park every morning during the Easter School Holidays. Thank you holiday gods.
In the photo below you can see the Surf Lifesaving Post on the beach with the Coolum Holiday Park in the foreground. Not far to the beach!
From our Caravan we are lulled to sleep by the ocean which sometimes sounds more like a freight train. The park is close to Surf and Bowls Clubs, shops, parks and the new hotel is only a minute away. Best of all is that we walk directly from the Park onto the patrolled beach.
We arrived after Easter and the park was full to overflowing with families. Everyone was in full holiday mode, with adult happy hours, BBQ for dinner and kids cycling all over the place. Beach camping holidays are great for families aren’t they?
This week has been far less hectic.
We’ve enjoyed long beach walks, body boarding in the surf, drinks on the verandah of the Surf Club and just laying on the beach relaxing. There is nothing like a beach holiday to bring the world into perspective.
What is your favourite beach destination?

Coolum Beach is 120 km north of the Capital of Queensland, Brisbane. You can read about transport options Here.
One week powered site out of Peak Season for two people at Coolum Beach Holiday Park cost us $290.00. (full rate). We are in no way affiliated with the Park and only recommend it because we have stayed here many times and enjoyed the experience.

What a great spot. Cool breezes and right near the beach. Coffee van sounds good too!

I am so sad Pinky because today was the coffee van’s last day in the park. Only does the school holidays evidently. 🙁

What a lovely beach! It takes me back to some beaches in Puerto Rico (only difference we have palm trees). Here in California we have nice looking beaches but they are not beaches to take a dip. The water is very cold (well, some people jump in).

OMG I didn’t realize the water was cold in California! The water here at Coolum is absolutely amazing. It is early Spring here in April. The water is light blue and clear and the water temperature of 25 is perfect for swimming. There are nice manageable waves that even I can body surf on with my board.

Don’t get me started on Coolum! I absolutely adore this section of the Sunny Coast and because my daughter lives here I get to visit often. Did you climb Mount Coolum? The views from here are amazing!

I am totally in love with the Sunshine Coast and always have been. My favourite beach is Coolum but I also love Peregian and Noosa, but Noosa is a little too popular.

I love pretty much any tropical beach. What popped into my mind first, though, was Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts, where we used to spend a couple of weeks every summer when I was a kid. Pretty and very family-friendly, without much to do except enjoy the beach! Coolum sounds much like it!
Jan
I have heard of Martha’s vineyard Rachel. Is that where the American Presidents used to visit?

Although we have amazing beaches in WA, I must say, each time you post a gorgeous Queensland beach photo I’m tempted to jump straight on a plane. Love the vegetation just beyond the beach, and the coffee van sounds good too 😉
Jan
I love WA beaches too Jo. Of course being a Queenslander, I am biased. I think the beach foreshore plants at Coolum are more like WA than tropical North Queensland. 🙂

Oh wow, that just looks absolutely idyllic. Love a good holiday park – especially ones that back onto a beach like that. Mmm, be the morning strolls along there are perfect. 🙂
