Wildlife

Wildlife viewing brings pleasure to many people, us included. Some of our best wildlife experiences have been with Australian wildlife, e.g.

  • Wallaby and bird watching on the Bunya Mountains in Queensland
  • Kangaroos on the beach at Cape Hillsborough near Mackay Queensland
  • Koalas on the Forts Walk on Magnetic Island
  • Monitor Lizard at Kondalilla Falls Sunshine Coast Queensland
  • Whale Watching on the Gold Coast.
  • Fish in North Queensland

The weather was perfect for snorkelling and fishing at Pelorus Island, just half an hour from the fishing town of Lucinda near Ingham in North Queensland. Where is Lucinda? Lucinda is the perfect distance from Townsville.  The road trip, towing our 4.75 aluminium runabout, is long enough to give a going on holiday feel and …

The answer to the question ‘Where to Find Platypus’ is of course AUSTRALIA, or more specifically the East Coast of Australia. We are Australian and until recently had not seen a platypus in the wild. On our latest Queensland Road Trip that all changed and we saw so many Platypus. It was incredibly exciting and …

Being Australian, Kangaroos, Emus and Koalas are what I consider to be normal wildlife sightings.  Being in Canada in Spring was so exciting for us, because we were subjected to a whole new range of wildlife photographic opportunities. This Jasper elk was grazing between Trans Canada Highway 16 and Talbot Lake on our return journey …

Paradise Country Farm Stay is both a Queensland Theme Park, a Wildlife Park and a farm stay on the Gold Coast Australia. It seems odd to stay at a Gold Coast farmstay secluded amongst the Village Roadshow collection of theme parks, but that is exactly what happens at Paradise Country Farm Stay. Even stranger is …

The Island was a defence post in WWII and the walk leads to artillery installations, ammunition bunkers and of course the forts with their gob-smacking enemy-spotting views. Viewing war paraphernalia in such a peaceful location is surreal …
