Otherworldy Travellers at Brisbane Airport

July 16, 2012 By Jan Robinson 4 Comments

This otherworldly family arrived at Brisbane Airport in 1995 and are still there.

Meet the family.

Dad

Dad is tanned and muscular and cuts a dashing figure with his hi-tech loin cloth.  (I love a man in a loin cloth).  Robot is super-sensitive and in this photo is hiding behind Dad.  You can just see his wheels if you look hard enough.

Mum

Mum has crystallized elbows and knees to die for, a long neck, and digital luggage.  She might have materialized from the past, future or present – nobody knows!

Child

Who wouldn’t love this character cartoon-like child???  A techno wizard with walkman and mask.  (obviously Mum and Dad understood the benefits of keeping him entertained while travelling).

Dog

Dog is multi-legged and helpful in a doggie way – the ultimate designer pet!

I would like to thank these otherworldy travellers for posing so graciously for my camera, whilst we were awaiting our flight to Barcelona in April this year.

They are the creations of artist and sculptor Stephen Killick.  Stephen was born in London in 1947 and moved to Australia in 1952!

    Hi Jan,
Love these guys! And your descriptions. I thought I was the only one who had such thoughts of random viewings while waiting for the next plane.
It looks like Dad has a tiny baby on his shoulder. . .?

Hi Josie, Yes I saw the tiny baby on Dad’s shoulder. I can’t claim the descriptions, they are a manipulation of the artist’s descriptions!
      Thanks
      Jan
