It is hard to imagine that elsewhere there are four cathedrals larger than this gothic cathedral in Milan. It is also hard to comprehend that it took six centuries to complete. I tried to resist thinking of the one room chapel we found in the hills of Andalucia, Spain. They are both astounding in their own way.
While Budget Hubby took this photo of me from the ultimate heights of the Duomo, I enjoyed some time alone on the level below. How lucky we were to have time to absorb the peace of this awe inspiring place.

I sought refuge in this cathedral from the imminent rain. The inside had an amazing stain glass window scene (they had many scenes but one more amazing than the others). There was strictly no photos but I had to snap a checky pic of the scene. Also, outside there was a red London bus to advertise the release of a Harry Potter movie, and they were erecting a massive live christmas tree. Hectic all around.

That is funny Matthew because when we were there they were getting ready for a big broadcast of some sort. Television crews and satellite dishes and lots of extra seating. I assume when they say “no photos” they mean “no flash” so I clicked away! I think the Duomo must host a lot of activites. Jan

I love this Duomo. Everytime I’m in Milan I either wander the fabulous interior or walk over the rooftop. Hubbt took a greatphoto of you on the beautiful marble stairs.
