Washing Day in Lisbon

Letting it all hang out in Lisbon

Washing Day, Doing the Laundry, whatever you like to call it.  We all either do it ourselves or pay someone to do it for us.  Some of us hang it on a clothes line in our back garden.  Some hang it on a clothes airer inside.

But on a sunny day in Lisbon, it is hung outside your window or balcony.  I wonder what people think when I take photos of other people’s washing.  I might say I am doing a thesis on how washing has effected changes in architecture!

Hey Jan, Just read an awesome article in the NY Times this morning about Lisbon that had me absolutely captivated — and then here’s your sweet look at the laundry hanging out. Love it! I’m so jealous! I want to go there now!

Hi Josie, Lisbon is an easy city to love. Everything is easy, the people are friendly, the coffee and pastry shops are great!

Thanks Spencer, Of course there is not just one washing day but many – I think I find it appealing because where I live washing is hung in back garden and no-one else sees it!
