Fantastic Friday: Newly born Fawn with her Mother in the grass

Fantastic Friday: Newly born Fawn and Mother in British Columbia, Canada

This photograph is the reason why we always travel in Spring.  The mother had recently given birth to twin fawns in a road side field.  Another baby was in the grass nearby.  Speed limits are reduced on the roads in British Columbia, to protect wildlife.

On many occasions driving at a slower speed enabled us to see special sights.  Apart from this one which is my favourite, we spotted our first ever Grizzly bear grazing on new green shoots, black bears scampering across the road into woodland, a moose and mother beside a quiet back road, elk and caribou decked out with antlers.

What is not to love about Spring time in Canada?

Hi Lisa, We did not actually see the fawn being born, but I think it was recent. My grandmother had a herd of goats and I have seen goats being born. It was amazing, especially as I was a young child at the time! Jan
