The Medieval Berber City of Marrakech Morocco, with it’s myriad alleys and colourful souks is dramatic and exotic. Both the old walled city and new are teeming with things to see and do in Marrakech.
With a convenient modern airport and cheap flights landing from Europe, Marrakech is a major destination. Take a trip to the nearby walled port beach town of Essaouria, the high Atlas Mountains or a multi-day Sahara Desert Trip.
With so many day trips originating here, Marrakech is the obvious choice for a Moroccan home base. Morocco is amazing and invites you to go hard, but don’t under-estimate the pleasures of a safe relaxing place to retire to each night.
The Marrakech Medina is one of the most captivating, other-worldly experiences of my life. It’s narrow alleyways and Souks, snake charmers and monkeys, are as colourful as they are confusing.
Vehicles don’t fit in the inner Medina, so visitors walk to their Riad or Hotel, with luggage transported by hand-drawn carts.
There is a place to suit everyone when considering where to stay in Marrakech. This post aims to help you decide, based on your requirements. Something attracts me to each one of these Marrkech Accommodation choices and each is owned by an experienced Airbnb SUPERHOST.
Which is your favourite.

Where to Stay in Marrakech Morocco – Far Northern Medina
Click Here for El Fenn Room at Kbou Chou
4.95 out of 5 stars from 298 Reviews – an enviable score – SUPERHOST
El Fenn means “Artist” – referring to the carved timber detail above the bed. Off the bedroom is a violet bathroom.
Situated in the far North of Marrakech Medina in Zaouia El Abbassia neigbourhood above Bab Tagzhout, this romantic Riad is a smidgeon outside of the souks. Village-like, the neighbourhood has small markets and feels lazy not crazy like the inner medina souks.
The Mosque of Sidi Be Abbes where artisans learn wood and plaster carving, leather work or copper hammering from Masters, is next door and can be visited.
To say this Riad is beautiful is simply factual. Just how beautiful and romantic needs to be experienced in person. Take a bike for free and explore the Medina at your leisure, hosts Jacques and Nicolas, 12 year residents of Marrakech, will steer you toward the best food, leather bags and carpets and away from tourist traps.
- Ensuite Bathroom
- Queen Bed
- Lush Green Patio
- Free Bikes

- Own Key
- Beautiful ambience
